About us

Light/Dark’s sculpted lighting forms are consciously designed to awaken our interior spaces. Inspired by the ever-evolving diversity of nature, our creations illuminate using tones and angles rarely experienced indoors. The recycled organic materials we use bring a soft, earthy calmness to all those who come under their glow.

Everything we make at Light/Dark is designed, hand-crafted, and thoroughly loved right here in Melbourne, Australia.

From a childhood spent in the bush surrounded by tools and timber, to over a decade working as a qualified carpenter, Luke's passion for timber and making was established from an early age and honed through years of rigorous training Luke's desire to explore the possibilities of timber crafting beyond the building industry compelled him to start playing with shapes from discarded bits of industrial steel and reclaimed timber in his front yard, becoming the starting point for Luke David Design. With an intuitive design process that values experimentation, Luke has developed a strong and distinctive aesthetic that he can truly call his own which truly reflects his playful and fun attitude. Characterised by strong, flowing lines, Luke's work combines function with the unexpected to create unique and unconventional pieces of sculptural furniture.
